COVID 19 Information

Course Information

Description

Advanced concepts of instruction in a cosmetology program. Topics include demonstration, development, and implementation of advanced evaluation techniques.

Prerequisites

Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation

Cosmetology Operator License and High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate;

CSME 1534 Cosmetology Instructor I, II, & III

Learning Outcomes

Practice instructional skills; develop assessment; evualate techniques that promote student learning; and implement evaluation tools to measure student outcomes.

Instructor Training Practical/Theory Requirements: Practical lab experience prepares you for the teaching profession.

The following are the requirements for both practical and theory.

Course Policies

Instructor Policies

Every student MUST have a copy of the required textbooks by the second week of class. The student will still be responsible for any assignments given.

� Students are responsible for completing all assigned reading assignments. Read over chapters PRIOR to class.

� Class participation is required. It is important to be active within the course.

� Assignments: All assignments must be submitted on the scheduled time (Online & Face to Face). Any assignments emailed after the scheduled time will receive a late penalty of -30 points.

� Assignments, Exams and due dates will be posted on Blackboard. Check your notifications, announcements and email daily.

� Please contact your instructor if you are having problems with the class, material, or internet.

� Exams: Make-up exams will NOT be given. All exams must be taken on the day that it is assigned and within the time frame listed. Please see your instructor before the scheduled exam if there is a problem.

� Students are responsible for all materials covered in class. If you quit coming to class and do not officially withdraw, your grades will be averaged, and you will receive the grade represented by this average.

Attendance Policy

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Regular class attendance is important to the attainment of the educational objectives of the college. The cosmetology program has formulated an attendance policy that is consistent with the objectives of the program and the needs of the student to fulfill all necessary requirements needed.
Poor attendance is a leading reason for termination from a job in all areas of employment. With this factor in mind, the instructor monitors student course activity daily.

Every student will be assigned a code to use for clocking during in person instruction. Please Note, the time clock is used for attendance only,
To fulfill the TDLR requirements, students must be in attendance to receive credit, any days missed must be made up. See instructor for details.

Attendance is 10% of your overall grade, and will be monitored daily. (Online & Face to Face)

Academic Honesty

Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.

Facility Policies

No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom.
Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission.
Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
